How do I get rid of peeling skin?

The doctor gave me medicine for my acne and it's making my skin peel. He said it's supposed to happen and it'll go away when the new skin grows. But is there any way for me to take away the peeling skin, because it's just staying on my face or make it less noticeable? Because people keep asking me about it and it's embarrassing. Thanks!
