Getting a chemical peel?

I'm 18, and I have really bad skin. Ever since I was about fifteen, I've had acne, on and off; not too badly, but a lot of the acne scarred my face... in the form of discoloration, and "craters." I wear make up to cover it up, but the only make up that has ever worked for me, is super expensive. As far as cleansers and things go, I've used, Proactiv, Biore, Clean and Clear, Neutrogena, Lush, Boscia, Say yes to..., Cetaphil, Corres, etc. Some of it works for the acne, but nothing for the scars. And still, as clean as my face is, I get pimples! I really want to get a chemical peel, but I'm very skeptical. What should I do?
